Alumni Spotlight: Courtney Rogers, Class of 2016

Courtney Rogers, Class of 2016, is the Executive Director of The Educator Collective (TEC), a nonprofit that provides educators with opportunities to grow in three areas of focus – community, leadership development, and well-being. The organization was founded by another Leadership ISD alum, Robert Taylor (2014), who now serves as the organization’s Board Chair.

The Educator Collective was selected by D Magazine to receive their D CEO 2022 Innovation in Education award. When asked about why she decided to pursue her role at Educator Collective, Courtney stated, “Teachers are the number one drivers to student success, so when the opportunity came along to support teachers, I couldn’t turn it down.” Burnout is the main reason teachers are leaving the profession, and that is why TEC focuses exclusively on the well-being of teachers, something Courtney learned about as an LISD Fellow. Here is what she said regarding her time in Leadership ISD and how it affects her work today:

“Leadership ISD introduced me to the education landscape in Dallas and taught me what the major issues were for students and teachers and what levers I can pull to make the most meaningful impact. Leadership ISD provided a network for me, and we do the same here at TEC by providing opportunities for teachers to network so they can create an ecosystem of support.”
