Impacting Education on a Local Level
Leadership ISD believes that change happens locally. We equip community leaders and school board trustees with the skills and resources to advocate for equitable education. By working with people rather than just establishing programs, we are able to create significant relationships and connections from communities to classrooms to boardrooms, affecting education system-wide.
Our Theory of Change
Inputs:
Leadership Training
We equip community leaders with the skills, mindset, relationships, and experiences needed to become changemakers in their school communities.
+
Coalition Building
We engage stakeholders and partners with effective tools and information to advance equitable education policies and practices that improve student outcomes.
+
Trustee Development & Support
We prepare aspiring, newly-elected, and tenured school board trustees to govern effectively and take actions that are racially equitable, student-centered, and outcomes-focused.
=
Outcome:
Higher-Functioning School Boards
When an informed and active electorate is connected to and collaborating with trustees who are adequately prepared to govern effectively, transformative change is possible in our public schools. Our work training leaders, building coalitions, and supporting trustees yields higher-functioning school boards focused on equitable student outcomes.
=
Result:
Improved Student Outcomes & Experience
Through our contributions and those of our many partners, we are closing the opportunity and achievement gaps that plague our school systems and creating lasting conditions for an equitable education system that rises to meet the needs of all students – preparing them for postsecondary and workplace success.
