A Message from LISD Board Chair, Dr. Jeannie Stone
Hello! I want to share greetings on behalf of the Leadership ISD Board and staff team as well as introduce myself to many new friends. I am a lifelong educator committed to ensuring every student is prepared to achieve their boldest dreams. This past December, I stepped away from my role as Richardson ISD Superintendent after thirty-three years in public education, having served as a teacher, principal, administrator, and superintendent in our DFW public schools. I was presented soon after with the wonderful opportunity to join LISD’s board and provide interim leadership to the organization, working alongside our amazing team to carry on the incredible legacy of LISD's founder, Patricia Arvanitis.
It has been a really rewarding experience learning more about the impact Leadership ISD has had on the educational landscape that I love. And, I have been reinvigorated seeing the commitment of so many of you in our network who have dedicated your time, your talents, and your voice to advocate for public education. Thank you! With much work left to be accomplished, we stand together and will continue to need you now and in the days ahead.
As we embark on a new school year, our LISD staff are deep in preparation to ignite impactful change in both Dallas and Tarrant Counties. Two Civic Voices cohorts will kick off in September, and this will be an inspiring time to see new fellows build their knowledge and skills to contribute to the already powerful movement that is Leadership ISD. We are also eager to accelerate our work by building coalitions of engaged stakeholders and supporting trustees in their crucial roles. Please stay tuned for an exciting announcement regarding our next Executive Director who will lead the organization toward the fulfillment of our mission to advance academic excellence and racial equity in public education.
Leadership ISD is grateful to you for your partnership and for your shared belief in our important work. Together, we can change outcomes for ALL students, and I am honored to passionately engage in this purpose along with my fellow board members, our staff, and ALL of you.
In service for students,
Jeannie Stone, Ed.D.
