Our Fellows come from diverse backgrounds and industries—united by a deep belief that all students deserve access to an excellent education and the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
What Motivates Us
We believe that all children, regardless of race, ethnicity or zip code, deserve an excellent and equitable education and that all of us have a stake in achieving this goal.
Students from historically disadvantaged families have a degraded opportunity to learn compared to economically advantaged students. On average in high-poverty communities, only 1 in 3 fourth-graders reads proficiently and only 13 percent of students graduate from high school ready to succeed in college or career. We cannot expect educators to close these gaps alone, our entire community must take action to influence systemic transformation.
How Are We Affecting Change in Public Education?Leadership ISD aspires to be the premier civic development program in Texas for public school advocates. We believe that with the right information, connections, skills, and access all citizens can become change agents for educational excellence and equity. We envision a network of informed citizens influencing the transformation of our public schools into places of rigor, relevance, and relationships where every public school student graduates from high school equipped for success in college and career.
