Dr. Jeannie Stone, Board Chair

Former Educator and Superintendent

Dr. Jeannie Stone began her career in Texas public education in 1990 as a middle school English teacher in Dallas ISD and most recently served as Superintendent in Richardson ISD from 2017-2021. Jeannie was raised in Mesquite, Texas where she spent the majority of her career serving as a high school English teacher and in various administrative positions. She worked for four years in Wylie ISD as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and was Richardson ISD’s Deputy Superintendent for a year before being named Superintendent. 

During her three decades of service to public education, Jeannie has been recognized for her innovative leadership and commitment to children. During her first year as principal at Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School, the campus was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. She was named the 2019 Texas Superintendent of the Year by Texas PTA, Altrusa International’s 2018 Outstanding Woman in Education, and the 2017 Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Educational Support Staff Association. The Dallas Business Journal chose her as one of their ten inaugural Leaders in Diversity in March 2021, and she was most recently honored with the 2022 Trailblazer Award by the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators. 

Jeannie obtained her undergraduate degree from UT Arlington, her master’s degree from Texas A&M Commerce, and her doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University. She has taught graduate courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce and the University of North Texas. She is currently writing a book and enjoys spending time with her family.
