Alumni Spotlight: Arnulfo Garza, Class of 2019
Arnulfo Garza works as a field representative and constituent services representative for Congressman Marc Veasey’s office. Before serving in his current role, Arnulfo worked as a legislative professional for State Senator Royce West who serves on the higher ed and public education committee. His goal is to ensure there are educational and economic opportunities for all people in Dallas, regardless of their background.
With the 88th Texas Legislative Session underway in Austin and important education issues at stake, it is critical that our elected officials and their staff understand the needs of their communities and put students first.
Leadership ISD’s Civic Voices Fellowship “placed me in direct relationship with students, teachers, and local education staff,” shared Arnulfo. “It impacted my work because it gave me a broader understanding of the reality and hardship, but also the opportunity that students these days face in their education experience. It definitely helped me transition from numbers and figures to names and relationships when it came to the work I was doing in advocating for students.”
In his free time, Arnulfo loves to read and is active in several local and civic organizations in the Dallas area including his church, The Concilio, Somos Tejas, and serves as a mentor with Los Primos Dallas.
