Alumni Spotlight: Amanda Muhammad, Class of 2019
Amanda Muhammad is a stress management and psychological safety consultant (makomindfullness.com) who helps schools and organizations create highly engaged and effective teams through mindfulness-based stress resilience & psychological safety training and resources.
Educational equity is at the core of everything she does professionally and personally. “As a Black woman and former educator, I've witnessed firsthand the glaring disparities that persist across school districts and zip codes,” shared Amanda. “Every student, regardless of their background or circumstances, possesses untapped potential waiting to be nurtured.”
“For me, educational equity is not just about the students themselves. The entire support network needs attention. Parents, teachers, counselors, etc. all play a pivotal role in a child's educational journey. They deserve resources, training, and support to fulfill their roles effectively. By equipping educators, parents, and support professionals with these skills, we empower them to create safe, inclusive spaces where students can thrive academically and emotionally.”
Amanda offers free stress management and great psychological safety resources on her website. You can also follow her on IG (@makomindfulness) or on LinkedIn.

In her free time, Amanda is pursuing a PhD in Business Psychology and loves to play tennis, take dance classes, visit her family back home in Kansas City, and explore other interesting parts of the world.
