Dr. Yvette M. Wingate is the Health Equity Coordinator for Tarrant County Public Health. In this role, she provides presentations and trainings on health literacy, cultural competence, roots of health inequities, social justice and the incorporation of culturally and linguistically appropriate standards in public health. Dr. Wingate remains committed to serving the community to improve the health and quality of life for all who live, learn, work, play and worship in Tarrant County. She has earned two Bachelors of Arts Degrees in Sociology and Criminology/Criminal Justice and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington along with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University’s Cook School of Leadership. Due to her 30 years of mentoring experience, Dr. Wingate’s dissertation focused on the effective mentoring competencies of adult mentors of youth. She has a passion to cultivate relationships with individuals that will move them towards greatness through personal and professional development.
