Tanyika Carter is the Director of the Comin’ Up Gang Intervention Program at the Boys& Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth. She has over 15 years of nonprofit and public education management, with responsibility for finance, strategic planning and program implementation, management of large multi-disciplinary teams, grant writing, and start-up operations.
Tanyika served most recently as the Director of Workforce Programs for The Up Center, where she managed all operations of the Department of Labor-sponsored Face Forward Juvenile Diversion program and Department of Health and Human Services-funded Responsible Fatherhood program. Both of these programs provided education, work training, mentoring, and job placement services for persons involved with the criminal justice system. Previously Ms. Carter was the Director of Finance and Operations for KIPP charter schools in New Orleans, creating systems and processes for successful opening and exponential growth of three independent schools in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. In her role as Charter School Program Manager at Los Angeles Unified School District, Tanyika negotiated independent charter school contract approval and property use agreements.
Tanyika holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Texas, and completed graduate studies in Educational Leadership at Loyola University Maryland. In her free time, Tanyika is an avid reader and world traveller.
