Sandra Nuñez is the Senior Program Manager of EMERGE in Spring Branch ISD. EMERGE prepares high-performing students from underserved communities to attend and graduate from selective colleges across the nation. Currently EMERGE serves students in Houston ISD, Spring Branch ISD, and Spring ISD. Sandra began her career in education in the Rio Grande Valley as a 2007 Teach For America corps member. She taught 8th and 9th grade U.S. History and World Geography in San Benito, TX for three years. In 2010, she joined Teach For America’s staff as a Recruitment Manager. In this role, she managed all aspects of corps member recruitment at Rice University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Houston. After leaving Teach For America, Sandra served in various teaching and non-instructional roles at YES Prep Public Schools for two years. She believes deeply in the power of education to transform families and communities and loves supporting students through the college application process. Sandra holds a B.A. in American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
