John Clayton is an associate at the law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where his practice focuses on corporate and securities matters, including public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities. Mr. Clayton is a member of the firm’ s pro bono committee and devotes time to education-related pro bono matters, such as representing the KIPP Foundation and special education students. Before attending law school, Mr. Clayton was a Teach For America Corps Member in Charlotte, NC, where he taught special education at Northridge Middle School. Prior to that, Mr. Clayton participated in Jumpstart, an early childhood literacy AmeriCorps program, in New York City’s Chinatown. Mr. Clayton received a Bachelor of Music degree (piano performance) in 2005 from the University of North Texas, a Master of Arts degree (piano performance) in 2007 from New York University, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan in 2013.
