Jenny Mathai is the Life Services Manager at Community Health Choice. Jenny oversees the services lines that address the social determinants of membership and the surrounding communities. Before Community, Jenny worked at Harris County Public Health (HCPH), on program evaluation, survey development and health education programs such as childhood obesity, community empowerment, environmental health, food safety, HIV/AIDS and chronic disease. At HCPH, she implemented the first county-wide healthy restaurant recognition program and helped launched the nationally recognized Harris County Food Safety Summit designed to break the barriers in health equity of restaurant operators in the county. Jenny received a BA in Biochemistry and MPH from Baylor University in Waco, TX. In December 2017, Jenny completed her doctorate at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health. Her dissertation analyzed the Affordable Care Act and the impact on uninsured children in Texas. Jenny is a Certified Health Education Specialist and is passionate about improving healthcare access, breaking the cycle of poverty in families and utilizing public health research to improve health outcomes.
