James Stafford is an attorney with Scheef & Stone, LLP a business law firm where he specializes in complex commercial litigation. Before practicing law, James spent five years as a classroom teacher (high school band director) in the Dallas Independent School District. The classroom experience shaped his public education perspective and the need for continued efforts to ensure all children have access to quality education. To this end, James volunteers his time by serving in various capacities to further access to education for children. Those capacities include his service as board member for Books are the Beginning, a non-profit whose mission is to provide books to children in impoverished areas, leading efforts through his law firm’s LSAT scholarship program and his volunteer hours as career day speaker at various nonprofit organizations and schools. Mr. Stafford has served for nearly two decades as an Army Reservist and is currently a JAG officer, but he most enjoys reading time at home with his wife (a practicing dentist) and three young daughters.
