Edna Flowers is a LCSW who has nine years of experience working with diverse populations in nonprofit and education settings. She is currently a Social Counselor, and advocates for student and family needs, both socially and emotionally, so that they can succeed. Prior to working in education as a counselor, Edna taught 7th grade English which propelled her to be motivated in returning to social work. Originally from Illinois, she is an alum of Loyola University of Chicago and obtained a master’s in social work with a specialization in school social work. In addition to serving in the education sector, Edna has worked previously as a career specialist with Inspiration Corporation and assisted participants in reaching self-sufficiency through employment training and support. With systemic oppression impacting various marginalized communities in our country, Edna believes her work with students coupled with the advocacy she engages in is pertinent in fighting for equity.
