Before his career with Education is Freedom, as the Community Engagement Manager, David graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. He then went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force as an officer who was lauded for his servant leadership as he led all of the Lieutenants through Captains on base in over 9,800 hours of volunteering, mentoring and community service to attain the most prestigious award for the young officers’ group in the entire United States Air Force. During the time that he was in college and in the military, David still made time to mentor numerous groups of at-risk youth in the middle and high schools of the local community he was stationed/serving in. Soon after, he became the co-founder and president of a non-profit geared towards the continuation of such mentorship, in 2012, with the help of his wife. He left the Air Force, as a 1st Lieutenant, after being promoted to the rank of Captain, to pursue his passion full-time as a career servant mentor. Now after two decades of mentorship and creating successful mentoring programs, he is successfully fulfilling his purpose as a Professional Mentor in his position as Community Engagement Manager with Education is Freedom where he began as a ServiceWorks Recruitment & Outreach Leader through Americorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America).
