2024 School Board Election Information

Candidate Evaluation Tool - May 4, 2024 Elections

Early Voting runs from April 22-30, 2024.

Leadership ISD’s candidate evaluation tool is designed to help community members make an informed vote by rating candidates’ responses to outcomes-aligned questions against proven criteria for effective school board leadership and ultimately select candidates who will put students first and remain laser-focused on student outcomes.

For additional voter information, including when and where to vote, please visit collincountytx.gov/elections, dallascountyvotes.org, votedenton.gov, co.ellis.tx.us/312/Elections, or tarrantcounty.com/elections depending on where you live.

School Board Races Matter!

Turnout for school board elections is often less than 10% of registered voters and many recent elections have been decided by fewer than 50 votes. This low level of engagement means that most people’s voices are not heard and that small, vocal groups who may not represent the community as a whole have tremendous sway in the outcomes, not only of individual races but in the trajectory of our schools. Therefore, it is vital to vote in every election!

To inform the public and provide community members the opportunity to get to know individuals running for school board, Leadership ISD and its partners host candidate forums prior to elections in many districts throughout Dallas and Tarrant Counties. Join our mailing list and/or follow up on social media to know when candidate forums and other community convenings are coming up.

Voting Checklist

  1. Make a Plan: Select the date, time, and location that works best for your schedule!

  2. Know Your Ballot: Research candidates and learn about their positions on public education by viewing their websites, reviewing candidate questionnaires (see above), reading articles, and attending candidate forums.

  3. Bring a Friend: Take a family member or friend to the polls with you so they can vote, too!

* Questionnaires were requested from all candidates in the districts listed above. If a candidate’s questionnaire is missing, the candidate chose not to complete the questionnaire. If your district is missing and you would like to help collect and distribute candidate questionnaires for your district next year, please email info@leadershipisd.org.

* Candidate questionnaires have been translated into Spanish for districts with an English learner student population of 15% or greater and a Hispanic population of 25% or greater. We recognize that not all English learners speak Spanish. We are fortunate to have students and families who speak a variety of languages in our districts and hope to make this information more accessible to all individuals in the future.
