Transforming Education Together
A Message from LISD Board Chair, Dr. Jeannie Stone
As I reflect on this past year, I am so proud of all we have accomplished together to improve student outcomes in North Texas. Our movement is cultivating bold education advocates and school leaders who are laser-focused on creating lasting conditions for an equitable education system that rises to meet the needs of ALL students.
We celebrated a key win this summer when the Dallas ISD Board adopted a new student experience constraint that strengthens data collection, transparency, and accountability around how our kids experience their education. Thanks to the efforts of our fellows and alumni who advocated for this constraint and DISD’s commitment to centering students, student experience is being more accurately measured and reported on, and the district is already using the data to improve student experience on their campuses.
In Tarrant County, voters elected Leadership ISD alumn, Wallace Bridges, to the Fort Worth ISD Board to fill the vacant seat left by the late Daphne Brookins, another LISD alumna. In total, 12 LISD alumni currently serve on school boards in North Texas. Leadership ISD staff were also influential in the search process that selected Dr. Angélica Ramsey as Fort Worth ISD’s new superintendent, and recently met with Dr. Ramsey to learn more about her student-focused and community-informed priorities.
We are ALL partners! On behalf of the Leadership ISD team, thank you for your partnership with us. We are eager to carry on this critical work with YOU in 2023 to ensure that every child of every race, socioeconomic status, language, and ability is fully prepared to achieve their boldest dreams. Together, we are transforming public education.
With gratitude and joy this holiday season,
Dr. Jeannie Stone
Leadership ISD Board President
