Cynthia N. Colbert, MSW, became president and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in December 2012. She previously led the Catholic Charities organizations in Wichita, Kan., and Austin, Texas, served as president and CEO of the Catholic Health Association in Austin, and was vice president of community resources for United Way in Austin. In 2016, she was named a finalist for the Houston Business JournalÛªs Women Who Mean Business Awards and the C-Suite Awards and in November was selected as the Female CEO of the year by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Last year, under her leadership, Catholic Charities received the highest honor given by HoustonÛªs Better Business Bureau, the Pinnacle Award. Catholic Charities was selected from a field of 16 finalists in the nonprofit category, and was recognized for excellence in the Greater Houston marketplace. An expert on poverty, Cynthia leads the social services arm of the Archdiocese with programs that nurture and care for children, strengthen families, support refugees and immigrants, and promote independence for seniors, veterans and others.
